By Lisa-Marie Brown; Illustrated by Sarah Cotton Christmas in Crescent City is unique. Welcome to the land of second liners, oyster po’boys, shotgun houses, and king cakes. This holiday picture book celebrates the special quirkiness of New Orleans. Lisa Marie Brown is a native of New Orleans. She lived in the Tremé and Gert Town neighborhoods before moving to Algiers at the age of eight. She is a tourism information counselor for the Louisiana State Museum and a licensed tour guide for the city. Brown earned a BA in elementary education from the Xavier University of Louisiana before pursuing an MA in history from the University of New Orleans. She was an elementary school teacher for several years and an archivist at the Historic New Orleans Collection. Brown’s love for her city is outmatched only by her knowledge of it. Sarah Cotton is a freelance illustrator and a former intern for Pelican Publishing Company.
